Nowhere to Belong

An interactive VR documentary about derussification in Ukraine.

In development. First chapter in 2027, full release in 2028.

A Ukrainian photographer comes home to write a book about her country. You conduct her interviews: real people, filmed during the war in volumetric video, in places captured in 3D.

01

You are Yuliia

She left Odesa at eighteen and lives in Paris. She comes back to write a book of interviews about how Ukrainians take back their language and their history.

Catch the words that matter

A sentence, a name, an object. You keep them in Yuliia’s paper notebook.

Connect them in her mind palace

The rooms of her memory are painted by hand. The links you make become the chapters of her book.

How it is made

Every place is a Gaussian splat: millions of coloured particles recorded on location, which you walk through in the headset. Every person is filmed in volumetric video.
